AL Wild Card Race Ends; NL’s Still Being Fought

The Boston Red Sox didn’t win their game last night, but they still had some reason to celebrate. The Red Sox wound up clinching a birth in the postseason because the Texas Rangers, their main rivals in the American League wild card race, lost as well to the Florida Marlins. Time has run out, and Boston is in. Bostonians have enjoyed a trip to the playoffs in six of the past seven years. Lucky Sox!

In the National League the Rockies won and the Braves lost last night, giving the Rockies another game as a buffer as they zero in on the Wild Card spot. We’ll all have to keep a close eye on this race. It could be a dandy coming down the stretch if the Braves can keep their flame going and the Rockies cool off.
