Even though this story doesn’t technically fall under the MLB category, you’ll probably see many of the College World Series players perform professionally at some point in the near future (and this is the World Series Blog, mind you). LSU beat Texas for the College World Series title. The Tigers of LSU are one of the most accomplished NCAA baseball teams in the nation (as is Texas) and this most recent championship gives LSU its sixth national title. Congratulations, Tigers.
In other news… Jon Heyman has a neat little article about some of the most fascinating and important players and coaches from the first few months of the MLB season. Some of the names on the list are no-brainers, but there are some guys who made his list of 11 who you probably didn’t think of. Joe Torre, manager of the NL West-leading Dodgers, made the top spot and Jim Tracy, who took over the Rockies as they went on an unbelievable hot streak, is the No. 2. Check out the list.
