World Series Champs Still Confident, Even in 0-2

Though its already months away, Phillies manager Charlie Manuel is already preparing for a return to the World Series, which he brought his team to championship last year. “I don’t like to make speeches, but it’s important we get off on the right foot,” Manuel, who was up at 5am and at the Bright House Field by 6am gearing up for his first day with the team, to MLB.com. “I need to remind them of that.” Though it wasn’t that long ago, the Phillies did an excellent job last year making it to the World Series Championships and hope to do it again. Manuel, 65, has been in baseball for years, an old schooler from way back. Still, his team respects his decisions, which helped them win the champsionship last year. “But by the same token, I don’t want them to forget for a minute what it took to win it all last year,” he continued with MLB.com. Already the team is starting out rough, losing their second straight exhibition game. “I’ts early, it’s early,” Manuel said after the loss to the Grapefruit League slate. “How many more games do we have? Thirty-four? Well, let’s see what happens.” The “real” lineup wasn’t even playing (only four were in starting lineup, as the rest were still in camp), making Manuel still confident in Phillies tickets going all the way to the World Series once again.
