Dodgers In a Pickle

Since the Winter Meetings left the Dodgers hopeful regarding free agent Manny Ramirez, the Los Angeles team has held off on any other offers regarding other candidates, but since Ramirez has gone MIA, the Dodgers are hopeful regarding other outfielders, including Adam Dunn and Bobby Abreu. A source, according to MLB.com, confirmed speculations that Dunn’s agent had discussed options with the Dodgers recently, while the blue team has kept in touch with Abreu. Both men are expected to get much less than the offer made to Ramirez, who commanded a two year contract for $45 million. Ramirez turns 37 this year and would be best suited for the American League after the Yankees filled their spot with Mark Teixeira. Ramirez and his agent haven’t spoken to the Dodgers since the Winter Meetings and by making open conversation with Dunn and Abreu serves a statement to the indecisive man who doesn’t necessarily want a short term contract but might not have any other options.

After the Dodgers figure out their outfielder situation, they have the option of moving to Andruw Jones of Juan Pierre. MLB.com and ESPN.com have both confirmed that talks between each player, their agent and the Dodgers have begun regarding short term contracts and eating contracts from other teams. Though neither Dunn nor Pierre are Ramirez, who finished fourth in voting for the league’s Most Valuable Player Award, each have great turn outs over the past few seasons and would make a great addition to the Southern California team.
