No Team Still for Teixiera

As more and more teams begin to limit their offerings, one more has just stepped off the table for Angels player Teixeira, who will no longer attempt to make his former team a home again. The Angels withdrew their eight year, $160 million (neighborhood) deal, according to MLB.com, leaving the Red Sox, Nationals and Orioles with deals ranging from $160 million to $184 million. Speculations about whether the New York Yankees have offered a deal have yet to be confirmed. “We’ll have no further comment today,” Angels spokesman Tim Mead said in an original FoxSports.com report. It was only Thursday when the Red Sox thought they might leave the bidding war and the Angels felt they were in the lead. But as rumors continued to circle around Teixeira that he preferred the East Coast style, the Angels eventually thought it would be best for their time spent to leave the first baseman alone if he wasn’t really into it.

The Maryland native attended high school in Baltimore and college at Georgia Tech before starting in the Major Leagues with the Rangers. He spent 4 1/2 seasons there before moving to Atlanta.
