It seems like it will never end for Mark Teixeira, the switch hitter who has yet to determine where he will be playing in 2009. After much contention that the Red Sox were after him, who even traveled to Texas to try and punch out some deals, the Boston team is out of the running, according to MLB.com after more teams continue to bid for the man. Red Sox slyly took themselves off the list of Teixeira wannabes, and what remains are the Angels, Nationals and Orioles — only one will prevail in the search for the next biggest first baseman spot. Even with Scott Boras, Teixeira’s agent met with the Red Sox it didn’t change many opinions. Boras send an email that day, “The Boston ownership was kind enough to request and travel to meet with Mark Teixeira. While it was a very positive meeting, Mark was candid and advised he is in the process of making a decision and is now attempting to eliminate teams.” When the Red Sox stepped out of the meetings, Red Sox principal owner John Henry said “We met with Mr. Teixiera and were very much impressed with him. After hearing about his other offers, however, it seems clear that we are not going to be a factor.” Check out Red Sox next season to see what they do, and wherever Teixiera ends up, you’ll have to get yourself some MLB.com tickets to watch him!
