Sabathia and Burnett Joining the NY Team Today

The New York Yankees are planning to introduce CC Sabathia at 1pm Eastern Standard time at a new conference at the Stadium Club. After months of speculation about where Sabathia would end up and what kind of deal it would get, the most popular Major League Baseball team in the country finally has an answer. This moment will undoubtedly go down in Major League Baseball history. Sabathia and other new acquisition AJ Burnett are both getting introduced today. The two represent the New York Yankees top choices from the free agent market after such a dismal season in Yankees fashion (the team didn’t make the playoffs in their farewell to Yankee Stadium year). Both players made their final bids last week, with Sabathia accepting a seven year, $161 million deal and Burnett accepting a five year, $82.5 million contract. Both pitchers, they had to go through physicals before passing over the dotted line through their agents and New York Yankees general managers. After the news conference the two new pinstriped players will head over to the newly constructed Yankee Stadium where their season will begin April 2009.
