Furcal BACK

Rafael Furcal is going back to the Atlanta Braves. A Major League source confirmed with MLB.com this morning that Furcal and the Braves have agreed on a three year contract that includes a vesting option for 2012 season. Furcal played with the Braves from 2000 to 2005. The speedy player still has to go through the task of taking a physical but once the inspection passeS the Braves will openly welcome him, along with Kelly Johnson and Yunel Escobar, to the team. The only problem with the Braves new lineup is where each star player will be put on the field. Furcal would be positioned defensively, and the Braves (as per MLB.com) might move Johnson back to left field, which he played at the start of 2007 before he moved to second base. Johnson is a power hitter, with the capability of hitting 15 to 20 home runs, while Matt Diaz could see the same. When Furcal played with the Atlanta Braves a few years ago his record was .284 with a .348 on base percentage and 189 stolen bases. That’s the best the Braves have seen since Furcal left the team.
