Winter Meetings

Sin City and Major League Baseball — an unlikely pair, but for this years Winter Meetings it’s the spot to be. And according to MLB.com, since Major League Baseball tickets aren’t anywhere near time to redeem, the best way to get your baseball fix is via the hourly updates that MLB.com offers. The annual meetings are happening right now, and every minute beginning Sunday through Thursday fans can catch a glimpse into the 2009 season with their own web updates, newspaper stories, blogs and much more. All the exciting events are happening at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino where  speculations begin about who is going to win the 2009 World Series and beyond. “The Winter Meetings are a good opportunity to try to make your club better,” says former Angels general manager and current team adviser Bill Stoneman to MLB.com. “But it’s very important to remember that it’s not the only opportunity.” So as the Major League Baseball community comes together to hash out what the future season might be like, several free agent players who have yet to be signed are likely to get discussed as well. One such player is CC Sabathia, the left pitcher who might be switching over to the New York Yankees for a reported $140 million, six year contract. Others include Mark Teixeira, Manny Ramirez, A.J. Burnett, Ben Sheets, Derek Lowe and many others. While discussions will remain somewhat light (as managers tend to enjoy themselves in Las Vegas during the week as well) the end result is bound to be spectacular. Make sure to catch all the action as Major League Baseball season returns to television stations soon with MLB tickets and more!
