All he wants for Christmas is his two front teeth…no wait…rather, a home. First baseman Mark Teixeira has six teams on the hunt for the free-agent slugger and at this point, even with all his options, he just wants it to get done. “I don’t want to put a timetable on it, but Christmas morning, I want to know where I’m going to be for the next couple of years, so hopefully, by Christmas it will be done,” Teixeira told ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews during the Miami/Georgia Tech football game in Atlanta on Thursday. The Anaheim Angels have earmarked keeping Teixeira, but it all depends on Scott Boras (agent), and the fact that Teixeira would be one of a few recruits for the Angels, who are also considering CC Sabathia and AJ Burnett. But with Teixeira, the Anaheim team would be a shoe-in for the American League West, who helped clinch last years title with 20 home runs in 103 games, and a .467 with an RBI in a first round playoff loss to the Red Sox. Besides the Angels, The Nationals, Orioles, Yankees, Red Sox and Giants are all talking to Boras about a change. “I want to go where I can win and my family is happy,” Teixeira told MLB.com. “Whether it’s the East Coast — that’s where I’m from — but I loved playing in Anaheim, too, so we’ll see what happens. Make sure you keep yourself updated with all the free agent as it continues hopefully not into the next year, but at least for another few weeks. Though Teixeira is hoping it ends by Christmas, the MLB season is still a long way off so just hold off on your MLB tickets until the weather warms up a bit and players have teams!
