Yankees In the Air

Much like ever other general manager leaving Dana Point, California this past Thursday, the New York teams are still up in the air about picking up the latest and greatest puzzle pieces to accompany Alex Rodriquez and Derek Jeter toward a great season. “Go after them all and see who goes after us” Brian Cashman, the Yankees general manager said of his agenda to MLB.com with Monopoly season opening November 14th where teams can finally talk money with free agents. “We’re going to show a lot of love, but we’re going to need somebody to love us back. That doesn’t happen often, though.” Every general manager came home empty handed at the end of the week, minus their suitcases, before the teams open up to money discussions. “First week, we hit the ground running,” Cashman continued with MLB.com. “I don’t think you get anything [tangible] accomplished, but you start the process. A lot of things offered so far wouldn’t work. We’re trying to figure out ultimately what’s avaliable to us…We have to figure out how to get better. I have no idea where this ride’s going to take us.” As talks continued to swarm Major League Baseball markets, no decisions will be made until a little later.
