Since this is the World Series Blog, it’s the last day of the year and there’s not going to be any World Series games coming up any time soon, we’re going to do one of those ever-popular Year in Reviews. There were plenty of baseball stories that dominated the sports pages (and even the front pages) of newspapers. Let’s take a look at what the year was like in Major League Baseball.
The biggest baseball story of the year was Barry Bonds. The guy broke the career home run record amid much controversy. The nation took sides on the Bonds record, making it one of the most talked-about news stories of 2007. In fact, the Associated Press declared that the Bonds/BLACO story was the top news story of 2007. However, in an attempt to keep a positive spin on things amid some very negative news, the World Series Blog would like to make another, more uplifting story our favorite for 2007. There would be ample reason to give the award to Craig Biggio, but I think the winner of the 2007 World Series Blog Story of the Year will have to go to the Boston Red Sox. This IS the World Series Blog, mind you.
Happy New Years to all of you out there in the Blogosphere. We look forward to another great year in MLB blogging! Make sure to get some MLB tickets for next season at StubHub.com.
